Percentage change
—
from the starting value to the ending value
Positive means growth; negative means decline.
- Absolute difference
- —
- Ending value
- —
- Change multiplier
- —
A percentage change cannot be defined when the starting value is zero; the absolute difference is still shown.
How it works
Compare against the baseline
The starting value is the baseline. The difference is divided by that baseline to express relative movement.
Percentage change = (ending value − starting value) ÷ starting value × 100
Worked example
25% growth
Moving from 8,000 to 10,000 adds 2,000. Relative to the 8,000 starting point, that is 25% growth and a 1.25× multiplier.
