How do you turn a revenue target into a marketing plan?
A revenue goal plan works backward from revenue to customer count, then to leads and visitors using your conversion assumptions. This calculator divides the revenue target by average customer revenue and applies the funnel rates to estimate required traffic and the associated advertising budget.
How to use this calculator
- Set a revenue target and average revenue per customer over the same time horizon.
- Enter lead-to-customer and visitor-to-lead conversion rates.
- Add average CPC to estimate the media cost of acquiring all required visitors through paid clicks.
How to interpret your result
The plan assumes stable rates and treats visitors as paid clicks for the budget estimate. It does not model repeat visits, organic traffic, capacity constraints or conversion delays. Fractional customers and leads are planning averages; round execution targets up when allocating resources.
Frequently asked questions
Does the estimated budget include creative or agency costs?
No. The budget is required visitors multiplied by average CPC. Add production, management, software and other marketing expenses separately.
Can I use lifetime revenue per customer?
Only if that matches the goal horizon. Using lifetime revenue to plan a one-month cash target can understate the customers and funding needed during that month.
